Father Henry Wiesmann Special Collections Library
The Wiesmann Special Collections Library, houses over 5,300 volumes on numerous Roman Catholic, and other religious subjects. The majority of the books come from a priest of the Diocese of Jefferson City Father Henry Wiesmann (1902-1973), who over his lifetime personally amassed over 15,000 volumes. These books were originally housed as part of former St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary library in Hannibal, Missouri. Numerous priests, deacons, religious and laity (both still living and deceased) have also donated parts of their collections as well.
There are numerous books on prayer, spirituality, the sacraments, saints, popes, bishops and dioceses by famous and other not so well known authors.
Books will continue to be added over time. The Wiesmann Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Alphonse J. Schwartze Memorial Catholic Center (adjoining the Bishop Michael F. McAuliffe Memorial Library). The library is open Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Due to their historical value, these books are available for in-house research only.
